“It’s the Dionne Quintuplets birthday today. They are four years old! Imagine that.
Apparently today, they are going to taste ice cream for the first time. Can you remember the first time you ate ice cream? I loved it ….”
She stifles a yawn. S. is going on and on about these “Quints” as the papers call them. She only gets depressed hearing about them. Married for 4 years now, and not even a single in sight, never mind twins. She doesn’t mind so much, it’s her family harping on and on. Especially with her sister having 3 children now! It’s exhausting just thinking about it. She wishes she was like A. and had a hobby.
She closes her eyes. Imagines eating a pistachio ice cream.
S. has mercifully moved on to another story.
