She is lonely. Everyone is talking about the fire, but she doesn’t have anyone to talk to. She imagines that if she was working in office, say, she could participate in all the tidbits, get to know the inside story— if there is one. She did have a brief conversation with her new neighbour L., but she was on her way to work. L. is a receptionist downtown with some law firm. She envies her smart outfit.
The ad in the paper catches her eye. Perhaps she should place a “Situation Wanted” advertisement?
