La Dolce Vita

June 2, 1938

fishing

J. told her he dreamt they went fishing last night.

It’s odd because she was woken up several times by his shouts. She wondered if he had a fever, he was sweating. It’s what’s happening downtown.

She wants to be sympathetic. She is sympathetic. But she can only dream of next Thursday – her photography lesson with A. What type of camera will she get to use? Will they go outside or, even better, inside the darkroom? — No she doubts that, it would be too soon. She can’t even hold the camera yet.

The whistle of the kettle breaks her reverie. She feels a bit traitorous and smug at the same time. She makes J.’s tea and really tries to pay attention to what he is saying.
