Empress of Japan Leaves Port

June 27, 1938

june27_empress

The Empress of Japan left Vancouver today.

Route: Vancouver-Yokohama-Kobe-Shanghai-Hong Kong.
Needless to say they are not passengers.

She has poured over the advertisements at the travel agency window downtown. She even stepped in to get a brochure.

The agent showed her the menu. They both enjoyed a nervous laugh.

Salted Almonds, Chilled Celery, Assorted Olives.

….

Golden Quail, Ideal

….

Dessert is a choice of Delaware Pudding, Oregon Bavaroise, Coupe Florida.

She momentarily pauses to glance at her cookbook to look up Orgeon Bavaroise, dismisses the thought, slams the book shut, and then returns to chopping the potatoes.
