Caledonian Games

The Duke of Sutherland opens the games. She attempts to pay attention, but didn’t sleep well last night. She stifles a yawn. In contrast, J. is listening with rapt attention. Which isn’t surprising — he is 1/4 Scottish. His maternal grandfather.

She hasn’t told him the full story of her ancestry, and wonders if she ever will.
