“$1,500,000 in Gold!… Listen to this:
The crippled liner — The Ascania, anchored…was reported to be in no danger tonight. … etc etc … The liner, en route from Montreal to England with 363 passengers, sidwswiped a rock at 6:30am Saturday, tearing her port bow to pieces. … The Ascania is reported to be carrying $1,500,000 in gold”

She is flabbergasted. J. shrugs his shoulders.

“I wonder how much it takes up”, he replies.
